Bulk Gift Sending: Do's and Don’ts

Tips to ensure a smooth experience when sending gifts to a group.

Sending gifts to a large group is a great way to recognize birthdays, holidays, project wins, or employee milestones at scale. But to make it seamless, it’s important to follow a few key best practices—and avoid common pitfalls.

DO: Use a clean, properly formatted CSV

  • Include required fields: First Name, Last Name, Email, and Group (optional)
  • Avoid special characters or extra spaces in headers or cells
  • Double-check for duplicates, typos, or missing fields

💡 Use the platform’s CSV template for easiest upload.

DO: Assign recipients to a group

  • Create a descriptive group name (e.g., “Q4 Anniversaries,” “New Hires June 2025”)
  • This helps with tracking, resending, and reporting
  • You can always filter gifts or resend links by group later

DO: Use Recipient Choice for flexibility

  • With large groups, preferences vary
  • Recipient Choice collections remove the guesswork and ensure each person picks something they’ll enjoy
  • Reduces support inquiries and improves satisfaction

DO: Preview and schedule ahead of time

  • Use the schedule later option if you're planning a future send
  • Gives you time to review details and make edits before gifts go out

DON’T: Upload a file without checking data quality

  • Missing or invalid emails will cause failures
  • Incorrect group names can result in disorganized tracking
  • Incomplete data = recipients won’t receive their gift properly

DON’T: Send bulk gifts without communication

  • Consider sending a heads-up email or Slack message to your team so they know to expect something
  • Helps prevent confusion or “spammy” perceptions

DON’T: Forget to check statuses post-send

  • After your bulk gift is sent, use the Orders tab to:
    • Monitor delivery status
    • Resend unclaimed links
    • Track gratitude and thank-you notes
