Setting up your Milestones Campaign: Birthdays

Automate birthday gifting so no celebration is ever missed.

Automated birthday campaigns make it easy to deliver timely, thoughtful recognition—without the need to remember individual dates or manually send gifts.

Once set up, your campaign will automatically send birthday gifts based on the recipient data you provide.

 

🛠️ How to set up a birthday campaign

  1. Choose the gift you wish to include in your campaign.

If you wish to create multiple Birthday campaigns—for instance, one for your C-Level Team and another for your Mid-Level Team—you can easily accomplish this by repeating this step for each group!

2. After selecting your gift, be sure to choose "Automated Milestones" for your subscription type and then select "Birthday" as the occasion.

3. You'll then be prompted to add your recipients! You can add by:

    • choosing the "add new contact" option to manually input the details of each individual (if you would like more information on how to add a new contact, please refer to our How to Create a New Contact article!)
    • choosing individuals from your existing contacts by ticking the checkbox next to their names
    • creating a new roster by inputting the details of all individuals you wish to include! (check out our Adding Multiple Contacts article!)

4. After adding your recipients, you will be directed to a page that will inform you if any of them lack a birth date. If all recipients have their birth dates listed, you will be able to proceed to the next step.

5. Craft your birthday gift message.

6. Choose your campaign start date.

In milestones campaigns, there are two options for setting the "start date":

- **Immediate Start**: The subscription will activate today, and recipients will receive their birthday emails on their special day, based on the activation date.

- **Future Start Date**: You can select a specific date for the campaign to commence, allowing emails to be sent at a designated time of your choosing.

It is advisable to select a future start date for the day after your setup (for example, if you are configuring your campaign on August 1, set the start date for August 2 at 9:00 AM). This ensures that your recipients will receive their birthday emails promptly at the beginning of their special day!

7. After entering your payment details, click on "Place Order" to finalize your campaign and get it ready for launch!

🔄 How it works

Once active, the campaign will:

  • Monitor the birthdays of all included recipients
  • Automatically send the selected gift on the defined schedule
  • Log each gift in the Orders tab

📍 Where to monitor birthday gifting

  • Use the Orders tab to track delivery and status
  • Filter by “Birthday Campaign” to see all related gifts

You can:

  • Edit the campaign (update group, message, gift type, or send timing)
  • Pause the campaign at any time
  • Replace recipient data by uploading a new list to the group
